What is the MEF Arts in Education Teachers’ Grant?
The Madison Education Foundation (MEF) invites ALL educators in the Madison School District to apply for an Arts in Education Grant. The purpose of these grants is to integrate the arts into classrooms across the Madison School District, via any artistic medium (Ex. animation, graffiti, performance, stained glass, sculpture, ceramics, photography, digital arts, art history, film, architecture). MEF grants money is available to enhance curricular projects that are not funded through regular school budgets.
Arts in Education Grant Specifics
MEF has $5,000 to disburse. Mini grants up to $500 or grants $500+. All grant requests will be considered.
Deadline to submit the application is 5:00pm, Friday, November 18th via Google Forms.
Grants will be awarded by December 15, 2016. Projects will need to be complete by May 2017.
Educators may apply for ONE grant from the MEF Teachers’ Grant Fund per year.
Projects may range from individual ideas to multiple teachers collaborating together on a project.
Projects can include program enhancement that meets curriculum guidelines, expanding an already existing unit, special events, professional development, artists in residence, and supplies that will be used by a large number of students (entire grade levels).
Each grant recipient is responsible for completing a follow up report and final accounting of all grant funds.
Grant requests require a Principal signature.
A panel of educators, parents, and Foundation Board members will review all applications. Applications will be anonymous to the grants review committee.
Grants are not awarded for everyday supplies, iPads, food, furniture, t-shirts, or favors.
Requests that involve supplemental curricular materials, including software or technology hardware/software, must first be approved through the Madison District Supplemental Material Request Process (see your Principal for guidance).
How Will the Funded Projects be Monitored?
The Madison Education Foundation will monitor each project. MEF reserves the right to observe and photograph projects for the purpose of furthering publicizing the MEF teacher grant program.
